October 4th ’15 I visited a concert of the Waterboys, in Eindhoven the Netherlands.
It may sound a bit strange, but I’m not a fan, I’m also not not a fan, I just love one of their songs: The whole of the moon.
It’s an oldie and I believe it came out in the year I became a student at the Technical University Eindhoven, so quite some time ago and I never really paid any special attention to it until I wrote my second book 40 Layers of the Soul revealed (not out in English yet, sorry).
My book ends with a thought: when I was ill for some years it always seemed to me that in the world outside my bedroom and house, real life took place. I was merely passing time.
But then, when I recovered and found out -by working in 40 layers of the aura instead of 7- how I had grown, I realised that living is in the experience that you encounter, not in the settings surrounding you.
And I started singing ‘The whole of the moon’ which captured that feeling perfectly.
So I went to see The Waterboys live, just for that song. An early birthday gift from my friends Lisette en Mies. It all came full circle, in Eindhoven of all places, once again.
I recorded the first part:
I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hands
I had flashes
But you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
